Candles
Prior to the mid 19th century, candles were normally tallow (made from beef fat). Nowadays, the fuel is nearly always some form of wax, with paraffin wax being the most common.

Additionally, gel, soy, beeswax, and vegetable products are suitable materials for candles.

Some people make their own, adding aromatherapy oils and decorations to fit their special requirements.

Traditionally, the white candle symbolises peace, hope, and cleanliness but candles come in a multitude of colours and types.

In candle magic rituals, each different colour represents an ideal emotional state.

For instance, green candles symbolise good fortune and wealth whilst black is associated with evil.

Different types of candles, such as altar candles and vigil candles facilitate prayer; figural candles have a part in magic spells. They are also used in voodoo spells and in other magical traditions (both black and white).

Popular, everyday choices include tea light, taper candles for the dinner table, and beautifully scented candles for bathroom and bedroom.

In a formal dinner table setting, federal and taper types of candle are preferable; a scented candle would interfere with the aromas coming from the food.

Additionally, you can put your candles in wooden holders or glass encased boxes to add extra significance to the atmosphere you’re creating.

Favourite ways of using them are during prayer, meditation, and to connect you with your guardian angels.
