Scrying is one of the world's oldest forms of divination, having been
practised for thousands of years.
It is also one of the simplest. The only equipment you need is a reflective surface in which to gaze.
As you look into it, images or visions may come to you that will help you to divine
the future.
There are three main methods of scrying, and it is a good idea to experiment to find which works best for you.
The oldest method is to gaze into a bowl of water - a technique that is still widely practised in China.
Alternatively you could use a mirror, provided that you sit at an angle to it so you avoid seeing your own reflection.
This was the preferred method of the Elizabethan astrologer, John Dee, who worked with a special black-backed mirror.
The classic choice, however, is to use a
crystal ball.
It takes practice and patience to become an accomplished scryer and it is
important to let your eyes relax as you look into your chosen scrying tool.
Don't hunt for images or shapes - let them come to you, in their own time.
Many scryers report seeing coloured clouds, which they interpret
according to their colour and shape.
Alternatively, you might find that you don't see shapes at all - instead thoughts or ideas float into your mind and that these have just as much validity as any images that you might see.
